For more experienced users—typically those who have been using Martus for one full budget cycle or longer—this track dives deeper into strategy, optimization, and advanced functionality. Expect to explore ways to get more out of your data, streamline processes, and elevate your financial planning approach.

Join us to learn best practices for setting up your system to align with your organization’s structure, reporting needs, and long-term goals. We’ll cover key configuration decisions, ways to boost user engagement, common pitfalls to avoid, and strategies for balancing flexibility with control.

Special Purpose Worksheets (SPWs) can be a simple list of itemized costs or they can be a robust combination of Reporting Groups and calculated allocations. In this hands- on Learning Lab, we will discuss and set up various examples together.

Objectives:

  • Learn how to utilize all three types of SPWs to budget with more confidence

  • Understand how to setup reporting groups to use as drivers in SPWs

  • Perform calculations in an SPW to determine budgets

Discover how to leverage Dashboard Financials, Planner Summary, and the ReportBuilder Assistant for impactful reports in Martus. Through guided walkthroughs and practical examples, you’ll learn how to navigate financial data, customize views, and turn numbers into strategy.

Objectives:

  • Participants will learn to effectively navigate and interpret financial data using Dashboard Financials, enhancing their ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Attendees will gain skills in customizing views and utilizing the Planner Summary to align financial reports with strategic objectives.

  • Through practical examples, learners will develop the capability to transform numerical data into actionable strategies using the ReportBuilder Assistant⁽¹⁾.

Cash Flow Forecasting: From Budget to Balance Sheet Impact

This hand-on learning lab explores how Martus’ forecasting tools extend your budget into a dynamic, integrated financial and cash flow outlook.

We’ll walk through how budget data connects across financial statements, highlighting how items translate into the Projected Balance Sheet and Projected Cash Flow Forecast.

In this session, we’ll demonstrate how features like automated mappings, amortization schedules, and granular overrides provide both simplicity for contributors and precision for finance teams that support clearer visibility into future performance and financial health.

Objectives: 

  • Create a projected Cash Flow Statement and Balance Sheet using your income statement budget as a basis

  • Understand how to complete setup steps including the use of amortization schedules

  • Learn how to include impacts to your projected statements that occur outside the income statement-based budget using Special Purpose Worksheets cash flow templates

Join us for a step-by-step learning lab covering the basics of building a budget template in Martus. Then we will shift gears and walk through how to easily make informed updates within worksheets.

  • Participants will learn the foundational steps to create a budget template in Martus, ensuring they can effectively structure and organize financial data for budgeting purposes.

  • Attendees will gain the ability to make informed updates within worksheets, enhancing their skills in adjusting and refining budget data as needed.

There’s more insight beneath the surface of your data and it’s easier to find than you think with ReportBuilder. Join us for a guided, hands-on training session that explores best practices, custom layouts, calculations, KPIs, and chart creation while building reports in real-time.

Objectives: 

  • Participants will learn how to create and customize report layouts, including the use of advanced calculations and formulas to enhance data analysis and presentation.

  • A​ttendees will gain the skills to effectively incorporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and various chart types into their reports, enabling them to visually represent data and highlight critical insights.

  • T​hrough guided, hands-on training, participants will apply best practices in building reports in real time, ensuring they can efficiently utilize ReportBuilder's features to meet their organization's reporting needs.
