What if a quick conversation at a conference booth could help fund wildlife conservation?
At Sage Future 2026, Martus Solutions turned that idea into action—raising $2,200 for their customer, Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) connecting networking to real-world outcomes.
The activation initiative not only increased booth engagement but also reinforced Martus’ commitment to purpose-driven action. Attendees responded enthusiastically, knowing that a quick badge scan directly translated into support for a meaningful cause.
At Sage Future, Martus introduced a campaign centered around the theme, “Don’t Let Your Budget Run Wild.” But instead of relying on traditional event giveaways that often end up in landfills, the marketing team took a different approach.
While swag is a common part of the trade show experience, it doesn’t always connect back to mission or long-term value. The team saw an opportunity to create an experience where every interaction contributed to something meaningful—much like the approach Martus customers use when planning and budgeting for mission-driven outcomes.
For every attendee who stopped by the booth and scanned their badgeMartus made a donation to their customer, Wildlife Conservation Network. Attendees who shared their experience on social media helped amplify the reach even further.
In just a few days, hundreds of conversations turned into $2,200 in support of global wildlife conservation efforts.
It was a simple yet meaningful shift that transformed routine conference interactions into moments of real, lasting impact.
About Wildlife Conservation Network
Wildlife Conservation Network works on the front lines of conservation, supporting partners and initiatives around the world that protect endangered species and promote coexistence between wildlife and people.
They’re also a Martus customer and are based in San Francisco, where Sage Future 2026 was hosted, bringing the impact of the campaign full circle.
As WCN expanded its programs and donor base, the organization needed greater financial visibility, stronger planning processes, and more accessible reporting across teams. With Martus, they’ve been able to move beyond manual, finance-dependent workflows to a more collaborative and transparent approach to budgeting and forecasting.
Today, teams across WCN have access to real-time financial data, enabling better decision-making, improved stewardship, and stronger alignment between resources and mission.
“Martus has completely transformed our budget development process. Using Martus has streamlined our processes, reduced errors, and empowered our teams with the ability to manage the budget and access real-time financial information,” said Alice Jones, CFO of Wildlife Conservation Network.

For Martus, this campaign was about reinforcing a core idea that better financial planning leads to better outcomes.
“We didn’t want this to be just another tradeshow booth interaction. By tying every badge scan to a tangible contribution, we created a simple but powerful way for attendees to be part of something bigger. This initiative reflects who we are as a company. ,” said Kelly Walsh, Senior Director of Marketing at Martus Solutions. “We believe in building stronger organizations and stronger communities.”
When organizations have clarity into their numbers, they can plan more effectively, allocate resources with confidence, and ultimately increase their impact. For nonprofits like WCN, that means stronger donor trust, more strategic funding decisions, and greater support for the communities and causes they serve.
The Sage Future campaign brought that philosophy to life in a tangible way by connecting conversations about budgeting and forecasting directly to the mission those tools help support.
As organizations continue to navigate complexity and uncertainty, the need for clear, collaborative financial planning has never been greater.
Martus helps organizations move beyond reactive budgeting toward more strategic, collaborative financial management that supports long-term goals.
